After high school, I graduated from YVC ('73) and WSU ('76). I then worked 27 years for the federal government, 14 years as a National Park Ranger in 4 National Parks (California, Nevada, and Washington) and 13 years as a BLM Law Enforcement Ranger/Patrol Captain (southern Arizona and central Oregon). I retired in 2007.
I married my wife Alicia in 1983 and we celebrated our 26th anniversary last September. We are semi empty-nesters in the central Oregon town of Prineville, where we have lived since 1995.
We have two grown children: Megan, (age 23, a 2008 Oregon State University grad currently working as a wildfire logistics coordinator for the US Forest Service in Prineville) and Jacob (age 21, currently a 3rd year software engineering major at Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, Oreg).
These days, since Alicia is still working, I enjoy being a house husband and doing fun stuff like woodworking, collecting antique advertising, RV camping, fishing, hunting, and geo-caching. I work full time during the summer as a marine deputy for the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office in Bend, Oregon.
Sounds like you're doing well there Tom. This is Mel. You may not remember much from high school, but you and I did some jamming in those days in Packwood and Easton and, my God, its been at least a hundred years. I live in Austin, TX divorced and remarried. My kids are all grown and have 4 grandchildren. I am still picking once and awhile. I just wanted to say howdy from Texas. Drop me a line if you're up to it.

Hi Tom, don't know if you will see this but will give it a try. My daughter Rachel went to school with Megan at Moon Mt in Phoenix. I started working at Moon Mt in 1998, in the preschool. Alicia worked with Jennie Williams the teacher before I did. Jennie thinks fondly of Alicia's time in the class. We still use some of the thinks Alicia drew for the bulletin board. In fact when we go back to school next week I will be putting up the winter clothes clad people and snowman she drew way back when. Jennie has always wondered how you were doing. I'll tell her what I read on this blog. Take care.
